One big reason it is not used or taught much is that it is very energy inefficient. A panel of dalles with epoxy has about the same R value as a single pane of glass.

The French pioneered Dalle de Verre using cement to hold the glass. The Americans advanced it using epoxies. When the energy crisis hit in the 1970's architects stopped using it. I was taught how to do it in 1979, by Helmut Schardt but never had a commission to practice with.

It can be very pretty though...
