I guess it's casting glass, you tell me. I first fuse thick slabs of glass then cut strips creating square rods. I load these into a mold (a pipe inside a pipe lined with fiber paper), placed upright in a kiln to full fuse. The result is a thick-walled cylinder. Cut the jagged top off, clean up the sides, and pre-heat in a kiln to soak at 1100 degrees F. to be picked up on a collared blow pipe and brought to the glory hole to blow into a vessel.
