I have recently been using two new (to me) cutters. They are both Toyo super cutters, one is the Thomas Grip and the other is the Tap Cutter. I really like them both but the Tap Cutter is definitely my cup of tea. I find that since it makes slightly deeper scores that I have a much easier time with my breaks. If you are in the market for a new cutter, try the Tap Cutter, I know you will like it. It is especially good for those of us who have issues with our hands/fingers.

I think the cutter you like is called the "custom grip" cutter. It can have a pattern cutting tap wheel. This is far and away my favorite cutter I have ever used. It cuts all glass between 3mm and 12mm, and thicker. No other configuration gives you as much control and allows you to concentrate your whole body/shoulders in to the cutting.

There is a tab that fits in the palm of your hand, but otherwise it is a pencil hold, so I like it better than the Thomas grip. The tab is adjustable for different size hands by moving the spacer up or down.

When I teach cutting of 10mm glass, I place my cutter in student hands, and they almost always make good cuts right from the first. I also use the Toyo tap wheel circle cutter.

Yep Bert, that is the one I am talking about, isn't it great? I am just loving the way it works. I've not cut anything more than standard stained glass so far with it but it's good to know what it will do. Thanks :)
