Some new work.
Pictures of a panel beveled on Fremont thick flashed and also some Starphire Crystal.
Enclosed in a metal frame with an over lay front and back.
Frame will be changed to a frame / stand in near future.
Panel is 11.5 inches in diameter.
I had Tod Beal in Monson, MA assemble panel, I have not received the panel back yet to see in a finished state.

Neat, as all your new adventures in art. Fantastic form and visual impact.

WOW! It's gorgeous! I love the metal frame. It's virile and maritime at once.

Boris, Chantal,
Thanks for taking a look at the panel.
I have not seen it in person as of this time myself. I had Tod Beall in Munson MA do the leading. I also sent it in a couple shipments as I got the glass and steel cut and beveled so I never even got to have it laid out completely on pattern at one time. I should see it here in three weeks.
The intent was a tabletop piece, a stand / frame but Tod took it to the AGG for a members display and they wanted to hang.
My plans are a frame and stand of raw steel, then an application of gun browning. Like the thought of the fine flashed Fremont beveled next to steel. We will see.
I plan to go on with this first adventure of the metal frames and overlays. Liked having steel glazed into panel and fastened to frame overlay. Some thick beveled dalle glass, some nice illusion bevels, the list is getting long in my mind. My intent is to build panels that appear to be larger in photos than they are, still have a ways to go to get the scale of all parts correct. These are only 11.5-inch diameter. Time will tell.
As far as the “maritime” statement, as it appears now, it does have a porthole look I guess.

Its a great design. I have half a dozen real portholes laying next to my shop and will have to take a second look at them as potential projects. Having my new toy all set up (Smithy Lathe Mill and Drill combo) the possibilities are endless. The metal and glass combo looks like a real winner for you.

Gosh, I thought it looked like an expensive hubcap. But I forget it's supposed to be a size-illusion. Earlier, since I'm a bit of a Star Trek fan, I wanted to call it a Borg Warner.
"Number One, what's that awful racket?" "That's the Borg Warner, Captain. They must be getting close!"

I had it in the studio a while and it does shoot rainbows around. And the Fremont has a crystal-clear backside but still has some slight, irregular texture so is very pleasant up close. I love handmade glasses!

Oh well, Dennis insisted on 1/8" round H for the innards. I added some re-strip in clever patterns to make it strong enough in such a small lead, considering EVERY piece of glass is beveled (read: heavy!). Now, it's on its way to Monsie, Indiana where Dennis will see it for the first time!

I can hardly wait to see what he has to say. Dennis: I think you're going to like this one!

Oh, that? Well, I noticed you took the "u" from M_ncie and put it into M_nson and I thought the other "o" was feeling a little left out, so decided to use it in M_ncie. Simple, really.
BTW: I couldn't affort second day at $80 or something equally shocking, so it's coming by camel or wart hog on the ground.

Have been working on frame / stand.
Now I need to put some kind of finish on the steel. Need overlays to contrast against the lead, have not made up my mind. May just spray with water and let rust??!! The small screw heads also fit scale of panel better.
Like it alot better as a table top display than a round "sun-catcher".

Very nice. It does look good as a table display. It would also make a great wall display. I like the shiny steel finish. It reeks of "machine age" art, and shiny is good.
