I recently received a request from someone to become a friend.
It's not that I am antisocial and this individual does seem interesting and has good friend potential.
But could you explain this to me?
Not being a friend in real life. I think I understand that.
But in terms of this forum, exactly what does that mean?

I have this feeling that it is something like belonging to a clique in high school. Or being a glass gang banger? The Jets, The Sharks.
The Hot glass vs the Cold glass
Hey guys, look who I am friends with!!!!!
What is the purpose exactly?
I looked for something on the site that would explain it but I didn't find anything.
Doesn't mean there ISN'T anything. I am often technologically inept.

it'll only cost you a cheap burger & drink.

Although I appreciate your offer, this was not exactly the gist of my question. However, we do have a bar across the road with decent burgers and good bloody Mary's.
So if you are ever in this tiny town of about 50 people in Southeastern Wisconsin, you are welcome to stop and we can seal our friendship.

That also goes for the other 300 members. not all on the same day, of course.

I haven't tried the "friends" feature myself, and I'm taking an airplane tomorrow morning at dawn so I don't have time to investigate the details, but on some boards it adds the person's name to your address book for private messaging, or make it easier to track that person's posts...

It doesn't mean a who-o-o-o-o-le lot, but it's something people might do spontaneously if they admire your work, for instance.

Personally, I think it gives us a chance to perhaps meet someone new who loves glass the way we do and frankly, I can use all of the friends I can get :)

The problem with electronic friends... the first time Windows crashes, there go your friends. :duck:
